The Stoke Rugby club have been offering rugby to the Stoke, Tahunanui and Wakatu communities for the last 70 years. We were founded in 1947 to create a club for the children of these areas. Our Club has continued to grow and in 2016 we had 14 JAB teams from U6 grade to U18 grade.
Our belief is that a successful Club requires a strong junior base with close links to the community.
We have created some great programmes to encourage and develop rugby from the grassroots up!!
BROADGREEN INTERMEDIATE RUGBY – this programme has been created to aid the schools rugby players in their development of the game and to give them a solid grounding for their future years in rugby. This programme is open to any rugby player within the school.
JUNIOR RUGBY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME – this successful school holiday programme has been running for the last two year. It is run in the April and July school holidays and is open to children from across the region.
JUNIOR RUGBY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – we have appointed Sam Chamberlain as the Club’s 2017 Rugby Development Officer. Sam is a Stoke senior player, is in the Tasman Makos Development Squad and a member of the Tasman 7’s team. Sam will support and encourage our coaches and work on the development of our junior players.
